A total of 1,150 flood-affected families in Kutubdia Para and Khurushkul of Cox’s Bazar received hygiene kits under an initiative of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) to help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases and improve public health following the recent floods.

The distribution programme was held on Sunday morning at Kutubdia Para Coastal Government Primary School and Khurushkul Shikkha Niketan.

Cox’s Bazar-3 lawmaker Lutfur Rahman Kazal attended the event as the chief guest and distributed the hygiene kits among the beneficiaries.

Speaking at the programme, Kazal said the government was working to ease the suffering of people affected by the floods and stressed that the proper use of hygiene kits could help prevent many diseases.

He also highlighted the importance of cleanliness in maintaining both physical and mental well-being, urging residents to keep their homes, neighbourhoods and surrounding environment clean to reduce the risk of disease and improve living standards.

DPHE Executive Engineer Saiful Islam, local BNP leaders and activists, and teachers from the participating schools were also present.

Later the same day, Kajal distributed 15,000 fruit and medicinal plant saplings among students of Khurushkul High School, PM Khali High School and Elias Mia Chowdhury High School. He encouraged the students to plant and care for at least two saplings each year as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation.
