Film Screening and Dialogue Held by Hasi Mukh Youth & Social Development Foundation to Promote Peace, Tolerance, and Social Cohesion Under the Youth-Led Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Initiatives in Bangladesh & Myanmar project, co-funded by the European Union and implemented by ActionAid Bangladesh.
Hasi Mukh Youth & Social Development Foundation (HMYSDF) organised a peace film screening and dialogue on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, at the Youth Peace Cafe in Kutubdia Para, Teknaf. The event aimed to raise awareness among young people about peace, social cohesion, and humanitarian values. The programme was supported by the non-governmental organisation SHED.
As part of the event, the internationally acclaimed animated film “The Breadwinner” was screened. The film compellingly portrays the devastating impacts of war and conflict, humanitarian crises, women’s courage and resilience, family responsibility, and the determination to survive under extremely challenging circumstances.
Following the screening, participants engaged in an interactive dialogue, reflecting on the film’s key messages and discussing the vital role of youth in peacebuilding, social cohesion, tolerance, gender equality, and the promotion of shared human values.
The event brought together representatives from various youth organisations, volunteers, community members, and young participants involved in the project. Youth participants highlighted the transformative power of cinema in shaping perspectives, inspiring empathy, and encouraging positive social change.
They emphasised that initiatives of this nature play a significant role in fostering mutual respect, understanding, and a culture of peaceful coexistence among young people.
Mohammad Jahed, the president of Hasi Mukh Youth & Social Development Foundation (HMYSDF) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, strengthening social cohesion, and building an inclusive society by continuing to organise youth-led awareness campaigns, film screenings, dialogues, and other community engagement initiatives in the future.
