People from all walks of life, including district administration officials, law enforcement agencies and participants in the July Movement, paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the July Mass Uprising by laying wreaths at a memorial in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.

The wreath-laying ceremony was held at around 10:00 am at the July Memorial, located near the Cox’s Bazar Bus Terminal, marking the observance of July Mass Uprising Day.

Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan was the first to place a wreath at the memorial. He was followed by the superintendent of police and officials from various government and non-government organisations, who paid their respects to the martyrs.

Members of the Cox’s Bazar July Revolutionary Alliance and participants in the July Movement also laid wreaths at the memorial in honour of those who died during the uprising.

Speaking at the programme, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan said the district administration had organised a series of events throughout the day to observe July Mass Uprising Day with due dignity.

The programme includes a discussion meeting in memory of the martyrs, special prayers at mosques and temples, and a reception for participants in the July Movement and members of their families.

He said the objective of the observance was to honour the sacrifices of the martyrs and to convey the spirit of the July Movement to the younger generation.
