Seven playgrounds in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar are being renovated under the current government’s new budget, with the work being implemented under the supervision of the Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer and the Upazila Sports Association.

The seven playgrounds have been initially selected for renovation. They are the grounds of Hoikyang Ali Ayesha School, Hnila High School, Teknaf Pilot High School, Lambori Malkabanu High School, Sabrang High School, Shamlapur High School and Saint Martin High School.

Teknaf Upazila Sports Association member and journalist Chhaiyad Alam confirmed the information.

He said playgrounds in other parts of the upazila would also be renovated in phases under subsequent budgets.

The initiative is expected to improve sports facilities across the upazila and encourage more children and young people to take part in outdoor activities.

The Upazila Sports Association said there are plans to hold the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament, Natyun Kuri, and other sports competitions at the renovated grounds.
