Tourists thronged Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Friday, the weekly holiday, as improving weather conditions drew more people to the coast.

From the afternoon, Kolatoli, Sugandha and Laboni points became crowded with tourists and local residents enjoying the beach.

Despite the growing crowds, red flags remained hoisted along the beach. Lifeguards stayed alert to prevent accidents as people entered the sea to swim, particularly at Kolatoli, Sugandha and Laboni points.

On Friday afternoon, tourists spent time with family and friends, enjoying the waves and taking photos to preserve holiday memories.

Salsabil Sabila, a tourist, said, “I have come to Cox’s Bazar for a trip after a long time. The weather has improved compared with before, so it feels good to be at the beach. I am enjoying the waves and spending quality time with my family.”

Local resident Sajjad Hossain said the beach had become busier since the afternoon because of the weekly holiday.

“Alongside tourists, many local people are also coming to the beach. As the weather begins to improve, the beach is becoming lively again,” he said.

Another local resident, Babul Ahmed, said Cox’s Bazar beach remained an attractive destination for tourists throughout the year.

“It is good to see so many tourists on the beach during the holiday. However, everyone must remain alert to ensure their safety. People should be particularly careful about entering the sea when red flags are hoisted,” he said.

Lifeguards continued to monitor the main beach points to ensure tourists’ safety. They said that although sea conditions were relatively favourable, they kept red flags in place as a precaution.

Lifeguard Rashid Ahmed said, “Sea conditions are good. However, red flags have been hoisted as a precaution. We are on duty at Kolatoli, Sugandha and Laboni points to prevent accidents after tourists enter the water.”

Tourists were also seen at other popular destinations, including Marine Drive, Himchhari, Inani and Patuartek beaches, alongside the main beach points in the town.

As weather conditions improve, beach visits are increasing. However, tourists have been advised to exercise caution while swimming and follow lifeguards’ instructions.
