A Biman Bangladesh Airlines domestic flight made an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday following a technical glitch.

All passengers and crew members on board were safe, but the airport’s runway remained closed for around half an hour after the landing.

According to the airline, Flight BG436 from Cox’s Bazar to Dhaka took off at 1:35pm.

A senior official said the aircraft developed a hydraulic fluid problem after take-off, prompting authorities to declare an emergency as a precaution.

The aircraft circled over Tangail several times to burn fuel and reduce its weight before heading to Dhaka, the official said.

It landed normally at 3:10pm, 48 minutes behind schedule, with no damage to the aircraft or injuries to anyone on board.

Flight operations at the airport were suspended in preparation for the landing. All take-offs and landings remained halted from 3:00pm to 3:30pm, officials said.

They said an internal investigation is likely to examine the technical anomaly.

In a press release issued on Saturday, Biman said all passengers and crew members arrived safely.
