Heavy rainfall has continued in Cox’s Bazar for three days, causing the tourism city to come to a near standstill due to record rainfall. However, several media outlets have reported that 25,000 tourists are stranded in Cox’s Bazar, which has caused a stir across the country. Residents and tourism operators in Cox’s Bazar are dismissing this news as fake on social media. No such information was found upon checking various hotels, motels, resorts, and guest houses in Cox’s Bazar.
Hafizur Rahman Lavlu, the organizational secretary of the Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Motel and Guest House Owners Association, said, “No tourists are stranded in Cox’s Bazar. Heavy rain caused waterlogging in the hotel and motel zone. As soon as the rain stopped, the water receded and the waterlogging ended. Waterlogging occurs as long as it rains, but no one is stranded. Please do not pay attention to misleading news.”
