In observance of Global Handwashing Day, themed “Why are clean hands still important?”, an exhibition and discussion session were held in Cox’s Bazar today (October 22).

The Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) and UNICEF jointly hosted the events at the Tourism Motel Shaibal premises.

The program’s chief guest was Additional Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Administrator, Rubaiya Afroz.

Presided over by DPHE Executive Engineer Md. Mostafizur Rahman, the discussion featured speeches from key figures, including District Education Officer Md. Nasir Uddin, along with development workers.

Government officials, NGO representatives, and teachers and students from various educational institutions were also in attendance.

The event commenced with the ceremonial cutting of a cake in celebration of Global Handwashing Day. 

The organizers highlighted that the primary goal of the day is to promote the practice of handwashing with soap and to raise awareness of its benefits.
