In the vast agricultural lands of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar, winter vegetable cultivation has yielded an impressive harvest this year.
Favorable weather conditions and minimal pest infestations have led to remarkable success in producing various vegetables compared to previous years.
Farmers anticipate favorable prices with this early winter harvest. Reports suggest that the upazila’s estimated 7,000 vegetable farmers could collectively earn around Tk70-Tk80 crore from crop sales between November and December.
Surveying various unions within the upazila reveals lush fields with vibrant green vegetables.
Among the crops flourishing are eggplant, tomatoes, beans, okra, bottle gourd, ridge gourd, chili, radish, cauliflower, cabbage, and numerous other winter vegetables.
The area along both banks of the Matamuhuri River, which flows through the upazila, has mainly seen an incredible transformation this year, experiencing a significant surge in vegetable farming.
