The Inani Naval Jetty in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, was split into two after being severely damaged by Cyclone Dana on the night of October 23.
This incident has caused significant disruption for both locals and tourists.
In response, repair work on the jetty began immediately, and authorities are optimistic that it will be operational by December 1, allowing tourist vessels to resume services to Saint Martin’s Island.
Locals emphasize the jetty’s critical role in facilitating travel to Saint Martin’s.
Its prolonged closure has resulted in financial hardship for both local businesses and island residents.
They have urged authorities to expedite the repairs to ensure the jetty is ready for the peak tourist season.
Once reopened in December, it is expected to revitalize the tourism economy of the region.
