Ship services to Saint Martin’s, the nation’s only coral island, will resume on Sunday, December 1.

While the district administration permitted a ship to operate today (Thursday), it could not depart due to a lack of passengers. However, according to sources, many are eagerly awaiting the season’s start.

To manage tourism, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change has announced that travelers must obtain a travel pass before visiting Saint Martin’s.  The island will only allow visitors with a valid travel pass. We also prohibit travelers from carrying polythene or plastic products, and we will record their accommodation details. We have formed a committee to oversee the implementation of these measures.

On Tuesday, November 19, Sabrina Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry, signed an order outlining this decision.

How to Get a Travel Pass

The Bangladesh Tourism Board’s mobile app allows travelers to obtain travel passes. After downloading and installing the app, travelers must register using their national IDs and provide the necessary details to acquire the pass online.

Travelers must show this pass to board ships departing from Teknaf.

However, a visit to the Google Play Store reveals that no app from the Bangladesh Tourism Board is currently available.  Reports suggest that the app is still under development.
