The Cox’s Bazar district administration organized a stakeholder meeting with the Ministry of Water Resources on Thursday morning at the Shahid ATM Jafar Alam Conference Hall.
The meeting’s chief guest, Abdul Latif Molla, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, emphasized the importance of providing public services with accountability and transparency. He also urged all relevant departments to coordinate the implementation of government development projects for the greater national interest.
District Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin presided over the session, and key officials such as Additional Deputy Commissioner Bibhishan Kanti Das, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jashim Uddin Chowdhury and Executive Engineer of the Water Development Board Asif Ahmed attended.
Prominent figures such as H.M. Ershad, President of Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) Cox’s Bazar chapter, student coordinator Shahidul Wahid Shahed, and Rabiyul Hossain also spoke at the event.
Participants included officials from various government departments, student activists, and other stakeholders.
The meeting addressed critical issues such as protecting the coastline and preventing erosion of the Bankkhali River, constructing dams in Shahpari Island, and halting illegal sand extraction. The meeting effectively addressed these concerns by adopting several resolutions.
