February 4 is World Cancer Day, observed annually on this day. This year’s theme is “United by Uniqueness.”
On this occasion, Dr. Shaheen Abdur Rahman Chowdhury, a specialist in medicine, diabetes, rheumatology, and cardiology, shared an awareness message with Cox’s Bazar Life.
He explained, “The theme emphasizes patient-centered care in the fight against cancer. Every cancer patient is unique, and treatment should be tailored accordingly rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.”
Dr. Shaheen further stressed the importance of personalized evaluation, appropriate medical interventions, and holistic care. He highlighted that beyond treatment, empathy, compassion, and multidimensional support are essential in ensuring better outcomes for cancer patients.
