Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Adviser to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, assured that the prices of essential commodities will not rise during Ramadan.
At the inauguration of the five-day Multipurpose Jute Product Fair at Laboni Point, Cox’s Bazar, on Tuesday (February 4), he stated, “A detailed discussion was held in a business conference, and everyone is working together. We are confident that prices of essential items such as oil, sugar, dates, chickpeas, fish, poultry, eggs, and seasonal vegetables will remain stable, InshaAllah.”
He also highlighted the government’s initiative to organize diverse jute fairs across Bangladesh, inspired by the recently concluded Trade Fair. “Visitors are happy, and they foresee economic growth. The government is offering various training programs, and regional fairs are being arranged to support entrepreneurs and resolve material supply issues,” he added.
Among the attendees were Satyakam Sen, Director (Administration) of the Jute Directorate; Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin; Superintendent of Police Muhammad Rahmat Ullah; and other officials.
The fair features 33 stalls and will run daily until February 8, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
