In celebration of International Mother Language Day, Ramu has launched a four-day book fair for 2025. The event began on Wednesday (February 26) morning at the premises of Ramu Cantonment English School & College.
The book fair features several renowned publishing houses, including the World Literature Center. On the opening day, it witnessed a large gathering of book enthusiasts.
Major General Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam, General Officer Commanding of the 10th Infantry Division and Area Commander of the Cox’s Bazar Area was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. Syeda Marzia Begum graced the occasion as a special guest.
In his inaugural speech, the chief guest thanked Ramu Cantonment English School & College for organizing the book fair and expressed his gratitude to all the publishers and guests.
He emphasized the importance of reading books in acquiring new information and fostering intellectual growth. “There is no substitute for reading when it comes to the development of mind and intellect. It is essential to build the habit of reading from childhood,” he said.
The chief guest also highlighted the crucial role of book fairs in sparking interest in reading among children by offering them a wide range of books to collect. He encouraged everyone nearby to visit the fair and collect as many books as possible.
Various high-ranking military and civilian officials, teachers, students, local dignitaries, and media personnel attended the event.
Following the opening ceremony, a captivating cultural program featuring Ramu Cantonment School & College students was held. The book fair will remain open to the public every day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
