In anticipation of the visit by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to Cox’s Bazar, extensive preparations are in full swing from Link Road in the main town to the Rohingya camps.

Key roads in the city are being refurbished, with old and damaged signboards being replaced or repaired. Road markings are being made more apparent to ensure smooth navigation for the visiting delegates and officials.

Significant renovations are also taking place in the Rohingya camps. New plastic sheets and brick platforms are installed to improve security and living conditions. The military and local administration are working at full speed to ensure that all preparations are completed before the visit.

Security measures have been significantly tightened, with new barbed-wire fencing around the main event venue. Law enforcement agencies conduct extensive reconnaissance, wrapping Cox’s Bazar in a security blanket.

The camp residents are curious. Children play on the streets, while many people have gathered to witness the ongoing preparations. The entire area is abuzz with excitement.

This visit is expected to draw international attention to the Rohingya crisis while providing the dignitaries with a firsthand look at the living conditions and pressing needs of the displaced community.
