United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, currently on an official visit to Bangladesh, has visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.
On Friday (March 14), he arrived in Cox’s Bazar at 1 PM along with Bangladesh’s Interim Government Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, traveling via Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Upon arrival, Secretary-General Guterres proceeded directly to Ukhiya, reaching the UNICEF-operated Fancy Learning Center at 2 PM, where he interacted with Rohingya students.
He is also scheduled to tour the Rohingya Cultural Center and a jute-based product manufacturing facility as part of his visit.
Later in the day, nearly 100,000 Rohingya refugees will participate in an Iftar gathering, which the UN Secretary-General and the Chief Adviser are expected to attend.
