Amloki, a small, round, and juicy fruit with a light greenish-yellow hue, is known for its distinct tartness. Interestingly, it also carries hints of sweetness, saltiness, and bitterness, offering a unique blend of flavors.

The hilly regions of Cox’s Bazar provide ideal conditions for Amloki trees to thrive. According to local vendors, the fruit is collected from these hills and then sold in various markets across the district. The price per kilogram ranges from Tk300 to Tk400, depending on availability and demand.

Reports suggest that a fully mature Amloki tree can yield around 200 kilograms of fruit. These trees typically grow between 10 to 20 feet in height and begin bearing fruit after four to five years. While Amloki is found across Bangladesh, it is particularly abundant in the hill tracts of Cox’s Bazar.

Rich in vitamin C, Amloki is highly valued for its nutritional benefits, making it a popular choice among locals and traders alike.
