With the theme “Save Our Glaciers,” World Water Day 2025 was enthusiastically celebrated in Ukhiya, organized by the Upazila Administration, the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), and the WASH sector.
The event featured a rally, a discussion session, a student essay competition, and an award ceremony.
The main program was held on Saturday (March 22, 2025) at the Ukhiya Upazila Parishad hall. Ashraful Islam, Assistant Engineer of DPHE, presided over the event, while Tofazzal Hossain, Project Manager at DSK and Coordinator of Ukhiya WASH Sector, conducted the session.
Saied Muhammad Anwar, President of the Ukhiya Press Club, attended as the chief guest. Special guests included Shafik Azad, President of the Ukhiya Online Press Club, and Faruk Ahmed, Secretary of the Ukhiya Press Club.
Teachers, students from various institutions, such as Ukhiya Government Multipurpose High School, Ukhiya Girls’ High School, and Sikdar Beel Government Primary School, and representatives from government and non-governmental organizations actively participated in the event.
Speakers emphasized the importance of preventing water pollution and wastage, preserving environmental balance, and ensuring access to safe water for future generations.
