The grand Eid congregation at Cox’s Bazar Central Eidgah was solemn and peaceful on Monday morning. The first Eid prayer commenced at 8:00 AM, followed by a special supplication (Munajat). A second congregation took place at 9:00 AM.
Mohammad Salahuddin, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cox’s Bazar, senior government officials, political leaders, and approximately 8,000 worshippers attended the main Eid prayer.
A Message of Unity and Spiritual Reflection
Extending his greetings, DC Mohammad Salahuddin said, From Cox’s Bazar Central Eidgah, we extend my heartfelt Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to the entire nation and the people of Cox’s Bazar.
“Eid Mubarak! If we uphold the values and discipline we have practiced throughout Ramadan, it will bring success in our personal, social, familial, national, and even international lives,” he added.
The first congregation was led by Allama Mahmudul Haque, the esteemed former Khatib of Cox’s Bazar Central Jame Mosque, who served for 34 years. The second congregation was led by Maulana Mufti Sulaiman Qasemi, the Khatib of the Central Eidgah Jame Mosque and Imam of Cox’s Bazar Model Jame Mosque.

Tight Security Measures Ensured
Stringent security measures were implemented to ensure a safe and smooth congregation. Worshippers entered the Eidgah through five designated gates, each monitored by high-resolution CCTV cameras. Law enforcement agencies maintained a constant watch, while a dedicated medical team was on standby for any health emergencies.
Additionally, security archways were set up at key locations, including the stadium area, the southern road of the stadium, Hospital Road, and the District Council intersection. Cox’s Bazar District Police deployed a two-tier security system, and arrangements were made for 300 worshippers to perform ablution simultaneously.
Facilities for Worshippers
The Cox’s Bazar Municipality ensured adequate facilities for the thousands of attendees. Special arrangements included safe drinking water supply, 110+ electric fans, 15 stand fans, and 15 air coolers to counter the heat, and complimentary gifts for worshippers at the entrance, including attar (perfume), 500ml bottled water, dates, and tissue pack.
The event reflected a seamless blend of spiritual devotion, community unity, and meticulous planning, ensuring a memorable and peaceful Eid celebration in Cox’s Bazar.
