Amid intense heat, Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach is witnessing an increased influx of tourists as the weekend draws crowds despite the sweltering weather.
Many tourists are heading into the sea for relief, taking advantage of the red-and-yellow flags indicating relatively safe conditions for bathing.
Tourists are mainly entering the water at Kolatoli, Laboni and Sugandha points.
However, authorities have urged visitors to follow safety guidelines issued by Sea Safe Lifeguard services.
Lifeguards said designated bathing zones have been marked at the three points where safety services are available.
These areas are identified by red-and-yellow or red flags, and going beyond these boundaries may be dangerous.
Sea Safe Lifeguard supervisor and senior lifeguard Mohammad Osman Gani said the sea remains calm for now, though conditions may change in the coming days.
He noted that while the beach is currently marked safe for bathing, some areas have developed holes or channels, and advised tourists to stay within designated zones under lifeguard supervision.
According to tidal forecasts, low tide is expected at 4:33 pm, while high tide will begin around 10:33 pm.
Authorities warned that ignoring safety signals or lifeguard instructions could lead to serious accidents at any time.
