An awareness and coordination meeting was held in Ukhiya to address health risks associated with climate change. The event took place yesterday at the conference room of the Upazila Health Complex, organized by BRAC.
Dr. Nasrin Zebin, the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, presided over the meeting. Participants discussed the multifaceted negative impacts of climate change on human health.
Speakers noted that rising temperatures, excessive rainfall, cyclones, floods, and droughts are creating new health challenges. As a result, communicable and non-communicable diseases such as diarrhea, dengue, and respiratory illnesses are spreading more rapidly.
They emphasized the importance of raising public awareness, improving the quality of primary healthcare, and taking collective action to address these growing health risks.
