With the arrival of winter, badminton has surged in popularity across Cox’s Bazar. From neighbourhoods to tourist zones, evenings come alive with the excitement of shuttlecocks flying under makeshift lights. The growing interest in this beloved seasonal sport has also kept sporting goods sellers at Bazar Ghata busier than ever.
Shopkeepers say a wide range of badminton sets—priced between Tk 500 and Tk 5,000—are now available, catering to different budgets and preferences.
Another sports equipment seller at Bazar Ghata shared that sales have climbed noticeably since winter began. To meet the needs of young people, tourists, and local players who flock to the courts after sundown, shops are stocking products across a range of price points and quality levels.
Locals say badminton has become not just a source of entertainment in the cool winter evenings, but also a healthy way to stay active. As a result, the sport has firmly established itself as a joyful winter tradition in Cox’s Bazar.
