Devout prayerers thronged the historic Badr Mokam Mosque in Cox’s Bazar on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere during Zuhr prayers.
In the morning, groups of devotees began arriving at the mosque to offer prayers. The interior and courtyard of the mosque swiftly filled up as the call to prayer reverberated throughout the neighborhood. Many worshippers, unable to find space inside, formed orderly rows in the open premises and nearby areas to join the congregation.
The commencement of Ramadan visibly heightened the depth of religious sentiment and solemnity. Worshippers said that Ramadan is a month of self-purification, restraint, and seeking closeness to Allah, and they wished to devote themselves to increased acts of worship from the very first day. Many attended the congregation with their family members.
In view of the large turnout, mosque authorities said they had made adequate arrangements for ablution facilities, cleanliness, and security. They added that special programmes, including Tarawih prayers, Qur’an recitation, and dedicated supplications, would continue throughout the month.
The significant gathering of worshippers on the first day of Ramadan has further reinforced the spiritual ambience in Cox’s Bazar.
