Crowds of shoppers thronged various iftar markets across Cox’s Bazar as the holy month of Ramadan gathered pace, with temporary stalls and roadside vendors witnessing brisk business in the late afternoon.

By early evening, makeshift shops set up along major streets and alleyways began drawing large crowds. The demand was particularly high for traditional iftar items such as chickpeas, piyaju, and beguni, as well as for sweet delicacies such as jilapi, bundia, chicken dishes, and a range of rice-based dishes.

As the time for breaking the fast approached, the rush intensified. The markets were lively, with many customers purchasing multiple items at once for their families.

Temporary stalls were set up at key points of the town, including the main thoroughfares and the bustling Bazarghata area, as well as in residential neighbourhood intersections. Restaurants also arranged elaborate iftar platters to attract customers.
Vendors said sales were strong on the first day of Ramadan, with the busiest period occurring shortly before sunset.

Local residents noted that amid busy daily schedules, many people prefer buying ready-made iftar items from the market rather than preparing them at home, which contributes to the vibrant, energetic ambience of Cox’s Bazar’s iftar bazaars each day.
