Border Guard Bangladesh distributed emergency relief among flood-affected families in Cox’s Bazar as part of its humanitarian response to the recent flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall.
The relief distribution programme was organised on July 13 at Purba Muktarkul in Jhilongja union under Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila by the Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB).
Commanding Officer of the 34 BGB, Lieutenant Colonel SM Khairul Alam, attended the programme as the chief guest and handed over relief supplies to the affected families.
Around 50 severely affected and marooned families in the flood-hit area received food and other essential items.
Speaking at the event, the BGB commanding officer said the border force remained committed to standing beside people during any national disaster alongside carrying out its border security responsibilities.
He added that the BGB would continue its humanitarian assistance and rescue efforts until the flood situation returned to normal.
Local community leaders and senior BGB officials were also present at the programme.
