The Ukhiya Battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh has provided free medical treatment and medicines to underprivileged and marginalised people in the border area of Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar.
The medical camp was held at Kharangkhali Primary School under the jurisdiction of the Kharangkhali Border Outpost in Hnila union from 10:30am to 2:40pm on Saturday.
Under the supervision of Medical Officer Major Md Shahadat Hossain Shuvo of the Army Medical Corps, a total of 196 poor and helpless people received treatment and free medicines.
Among the recipients were 48 men, 119 women, and 29 children.
Present at the medical camp were the Commanding Officer of the Ukhiya Battalion (64 BGB), Lieutenant Colonel Md Zahirul Islam, and the Deputy Commanding Officer, Major Ishtiaq Ahmed.
BGB officials said that alongside protecting the border, the force has continued humanitarian activities to support people living in border areas.
The initiative was also appreciated by local residents, officials said, adding that similar activities would continue in the future.
