Today, 21 February, marking International Mother Language Day, BORI School and College, located near Marine Drive in Cox’s Bazar, observed the day with due respect in memory of the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their mother tongue.
At the crack of dawn, teachers and students took part in a barefoot procession. Gathering at the Shaheed Minar built within the school premises, they placed floral wreaths with deep reverence and love.
A solemn and emotional atmosphere enveloped the entire campus.
Students performed patriotic songs, including the iconic “Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February.”
During a brief discussion session, speakers highlighted that the Language Movement of 1952 stands as a historic milestone in establishing the identity and rights of the Bengali nation.
They urged the younger generation to remain conscious and responsible in upholding the dignity of their mother tongue.
Organisers believe that observing the day in such a meaningful manner at the scenic, sea-adjacent campus has further inspired students with the spirit and values of the Language Movement.
