This year, Kachchapiya in Ramu has witnessed a bumper jujube harvest. Two large orchards in the area are overflowing with fruit, and farmers report that in some places, the number of jujube fruits exceeds the number of leaves on the trees.
Observations in the orchards show clusters of ripe and semi-ripe jujube hanging from every tree. Favorable weather, timely care, and minimal pest issues have contributed to yields that exceed expectations, according to orchard owners.
Local farmers noted that compared to previous years, this season’s harvest is exceptionally excellent. Every day, fruits are collected from the trees and sent to different parts of Cox’s Bazar. Wholesale and retail traders are directly buying jujube from the orchards.
Farmers hope that fair market prices will make this bumper harvest financially rewarding. At the same time, fresh, flavorful jujubes are being supplied to local markets, keeping consumers satisfied.
Ramu Upazila Agriculture Officer Tanjila Rahman stated that following proper care and modern cultivation techniques can further expand jujube farming opportunities.
The agricultural office continues to support small-scale farmers.
