Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, shopping malls and markets in the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar are witnessing a surge of shoppers.
From morning until late at night, a festive atmosphere surrounds various commercial centers and streets across the city.
Popular spots such as Apan Tower, Panbazar Road, and Fazal Market are seeing increasing crowds each day.
Shops fill up with customers searching for their preferred outfits, making the rush especially noticeable from late afternoon through the evening.
Conversations with shoppers reveal that lower- and middle-income families are placing particular emphasis this year on the quality and preferences of children’s clothing.
While many head to shopping malls to purchase attractive, durable outfits for their children, they often buy their own clothing and essentials from comparatively low-priced roadside stalls.
A shopper named Arif expressed dissatisfaction with higher prices, saying that clothing costs seem somewhat higher than before.
Still, many customers are visiting multiple stores in search of their ideal dress, while some plan to complete their shopping just before Eid.
Meanwhile, some buyers are turning to online shopping due to limited choices or high prices in physical stores. Social media platforms and various online marketplaces are currently offering Eid promotions and discounts.
Overall, the spirit of Eid has created a vibrant and festive mood throughout Cox’s Bazar. The busy markets have come alive with activity, and the joy of the upcoming celebration is spreading from family to family.
