Shourin Ahmed Khan, hailing from Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar, has been appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Accounting at the University of Dhaka. She officially joined the department on June 18.
Shourin is the daughter of retired army sergeant Shahab Uddin Ahmed Khan and the late Bulbul Jannat, a former primary school teacher. A resident of Ward 5 in Chakaria Municipality, she is the second among three siblings. Shourin is married to Anisuzzaman, an assistant teacher at Chakaria Central High School.
Outstanding achievements have marked her academic journey. Shourin secured GPA 5.00 in both her SSC (2014) from Chakaria Central High School and HSC (2016) from Chattogram Government Mohsin College. She then earned her BBA in Accounting from the University of Dhaka, graduating second in her class, and topped her class in the MBA program.
Before joining Dhaka University, she served as a lecturer at the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), a public university run by the Bangladesh Army.
“Teaching has always been my passion,” Shourin shared. “By the grace of Allah, that dream has come true. Now it’s my turn to give back to the country and its people. I will do so with integrity and dedication.”
She added, “Being appointed as a faculty member in the very department where I once studied is the greatest joy and honor of my life. As a girl from a small town like Chakaria, being entrusted with a position at the top institution in the country is a blessing for which I am forever grateful.”
