A five-day theatre workshop for children titled “Ovinoyer Hatekhori” has been launched in Cox’s Bazar by the cultural organisation Odhidhwani.

The workshop, aimed at nurturing children’s creativity and aesthetic development, was inaugurated by trainer Mohammad Imran Hossain, popularly known as Imu, who has long been involved in theatre as a teacher and director.

Among others present at the inaugural ceremony were special guest Israt Jahan Sumaiya, CEO of Tedoria, as well as Atanu Das, director of Odhidhwani, and Sayantan Bhattacharya, the organisation’s chief coordinator.

Organisers said the five-day workshop will provide participating children with hands-on training in the fundamentals of acting, including dialogue delivery, body language, stage presentation, and various aspects of theatre practice.

On the first day of the workshop, more than 30 children registered to participate. The children, aged between five and seven years, enthusiastically took part in the opening day’s sessions.

Under the trainer’s guidance, they engaged in basic acting exercises, body language practice, and various creative activities, which generated great interest and excitement among the participants.

Organisers believe that such initiatives will help develop children’s creativity and encourage their interest in theatre, while also contributing to the emergence of a new generation of theatre practitioners.

Members of the local cultural community said initiatives like these are crucial for children’s cultural development and will further enrich the cultural landscape of Cox’s Bazar.
