In Cox’s Bazar’s Maheshkhali upazila, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has distributed relief among families affected by recent floods.
On Sunday, June 1, Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, stated that since its inception, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been assisting disadvantaged communities in coastal and riverside areas during natural disasters and contributing to their socio-economic development. At the same time, the Coast Guard tirelessly works to establish peace and order and ensure public safety in coastal areas.
Recently, due to the impact of a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, tidal waters inundated the low-lying areas of Maheshkhali, leaving many local residents waterlogged.
Under the Coast Guard’s Eastern Zone, BCG Station Maheshkhali distributed relief and dry food among 135 poor and vulnerable families in Kutubjum, Matarbari, and Sonadia on Saturday, May 31, between 2 pm and 5 pm.
Lieutenant Commander Harun-ur-Rashid added that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such humanitarian efforts in the future.
