The Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach has turned into a sea of people during the Eid holidays, with thousands of visitors crowding the beach, leaving little space to move.

Tourists from across the country are spending joyful moments with their families, enjoying the waves and dunes. In contrast, lifeguards and the tourist police remain on high alert to ensure their safety, monitoring the large crowds and providing assistance in case of emergencies.

Although Eid day saw light rain, the weather improved on the second day, Sunday (March 22), in Cox’s Bazar. The sea returned to its familiar lively form, attracting even more visitors.

The entire beach, from Madrasa Point to Kolatoli, stretching about three kilometres, was packed with people. Tourists played in the waves, while others relaxed on the sandy shore.

A tourist named Rohan said he had expected fewer people during the Eid holidays but found the beach overwhelmingly crowded. “There is very little space to walk. I have never seen such a huge crowd before. It feels wonderful to witness so much joy,” he said.

With the surge in visitors, lifeguards have become increasingly busy.

They are monitoring the beach from watchtowers, conducting regular patrols, and making announcements through loudspeakers.

However, they are struggling due to a limited workforce.

The tourist police have also strengthened security across the beach and nearby recreational spots.

Project officer of Sea Safe Lifeguard, Imtiaz Ahmed, said that after a nearly 1.5-month slowdown, the beach has come alive with tourists during the Eid holidays.

“We are facing challenges in ensuring the safety of more than one hundred thousand visitors with only 27 personnel. Still, we are doing our best to provide maximum safety for those entering the sea,” he said.
