The month-long football tournament, organized in honor of national-level players Shaheda Akter Ripa and Salauddin Shahed, concluded at Thaingkhali, Ukhiya.

Cox’s Bazar Brothers Union won the championship title in the final match, which took place on Saturday (January 11) at the Thaingkhali High School field, in a tiebreaker (4-2).

The champions received a cash prize of Tk 1 lakh and a trophy, while the runners-up received Tk 50,000. Additional awards were also given in various categories.

As the chief guest, Sarwar Jahan Chowdhury, convener of the Upazila BNP and former Upazila Chairman, remarked, “This tournament will serve as a milestone in promoting football at the grassroots level.”

Kamruddin Mukul, general secretary of the tournament’s organizing committee, announced that the event will be held again next year.

Several distinguished guests graced the event, including Palongkhali Union Parishad Chairman Gafur Uddin Chowdhury, Shaheda Akter Ripa, a member of the national women’s football team, age-level national player Salauddin Shahed, and Jahangir Alam, director of Coast Foundation
