The Cox’s Bazar Child Protection Platform (CCPP) held its sixth general meeting at Hotel Sea Gull in the town on Tuesday, bringing together government officials and representatives of 16 international, national and local organisations working on child protection.
Representatives from Save the Children, BRAC, Plan International Bangladesh and World Vision Bangladesh, among others, attended the meeting.
Under the guidance of the District Child Welfare Board, the CCPP works to strengthen coordination among organizations protecting Bangladeshi children living outside the camps, identify service gaps, and reduce duplication of effort.
Mohammad Shahi Newaz, deputy director of the Cox’s Bazar District Social Services Office, said children faced complex, interconnected challenges the government could not address alone.
He said collective efforts were therefore essential to finding effective and sustainable solutions.
The meeting also featured presentations on the findings of a street children survey and the situation of children in the district. Participants discussed forming various subcommittees and defined their responsibilities and areas of work.
Attendees emphasised stronger cooperation between government agencies and non-governmental organisations to reinforce child protection mechanisms at the district level.
