In a heartwarming initiative to mark the summer fruit season, Cox’s Bazar District Jail organized a special fruit festival featuring an array of local seasonal fruits for inmates on Thursday. The event took place at the newly built district jail adjacent to the Kalatali Bypass Road.

Both prison staff and inmates participated in the festival, which was presided over by Jail Superintendent Javed Mehdi. Speaking at the event, he informed that 1,000 kilograms of mangoes and 100 jackfruits were provided for the occasion, which were distributed among the 2,484 inmates currently housed in the facility.

Superintendent Mehdi further noted that the festival was not only for the inmates but also included jail officers and staff, who received mangoes and jackfruits as part of the celebration.

The Jailor, Deputy Jailor, and other officials attended the event.

Officials noted that such initiatives by the prison authorities contribute to the mental well-being of inmates and reflect a positive approach toward humane treatment within the correctional system.
