Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police ANM Shajadur Rahman has received the President’s Police Medal (PPM-Service) in recognition of his professional performance, service, and contribution to his duties.
The medal was formally presented to him at an award ceremony in Dhaka on Saturday as part of Police Week 2026, in the presence of Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.
Police personnel received state awards in different categories in recognition of bravery, professional performance, investigation of important and sensational cases, and outstanding contributions in discharging their duties.
The PPM-Service is one of the state recognitions awarded to police personnel for outstanding contributions to their professional responsibilities and service activities.
News of the award has brought a sense of celebration among officers and members of the Cox’s Bazar district police, who viewed it as recognition of the superintendent’s professional contribution.
Speaking at the Police Week award ceremony, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed called on police personnel to remain disciplined and firm in carrying out their professional responsibilities. He also said attempts to violate discipline or destabilise the country would be dealt with firmly.
The Police Week 2026 awards had earlier drawn attention following changes and a suspension related to the award process. An initial list included 107 police personnel, but it was later revised before the recipients were finalized.
As superintendent of police in Cox’s Bazar, ANM Shajadur Rahman oversees law and order in one of the country’s key tourism and border districts.
His responsibilities include ensuring the security of large numbers of tourists during the tourism season and leading the district police in addressing various law-and-order issues.
The PPM-Service is a significant professional recognition in his career and recognizes his service as head of the Cox’s Bazar district police.
