Cox’s Bazar observed Independence and National Day with due honour, as the district police paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for independence.
Marking the day, Superintendent of Police ANM Sazedur Rahman placed wreaths in memory of the fallen heroes.
The observance began in the early hours of Thursday, March 26, with a 31-gun salute. Later, the superintendent of police visited the martyrs’ memorial in the town to pay respects. Senior officials of the Cox’s Bazar district police, along with personnel from various ranks, were present on the occasion.
The day marks a glorious chapter in the nation’s history. Responding to the call for independence, the Bengali nation launched an armed struggle on March 26, 1971. After nine months of war and immense sacrifice, Bangladesh achieved independence and sovereignty on December 16 through the Liberation War.
Independence Day stands as a symbol of sacrifice, courage, patriotism, and national pride. The sacrifices of millions of martyrs serve as a reminder of our responsibility to uphold our hard-earned freedom.
In Cox’s Bazar, the day is being observed through various programmes aimed at honouring the martyrs and spreading the spirit of the Liberation War among the younger generation.
