Cox’s Bazar recorded 64 millimeters of rainfall in the 24 hours between 9:00am Friday and 9:00am Saturday, marking the highest single-day rainfall of the ongoing season.

Assistant Meteorologist Mohammad Abdul Hannan of the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office reported that 40 millimeters of rain fell in just three hours—from 6:00am to 9:00am Saturday—contributing to the day’s record total. He added that the rainfall is likely to continue for the next few days.

Meanwhile, due to the active monsoon, dense clouds have formed over the north Bay of Bengal. As a result, squally or gusty winds may sweep over the bay, Bangladesh’s coastal areas, and its seaports, the Met Office warned.

In its weather advisory, the Meteorological Department asked the seaports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to hoist local cautionary signal No. 3.
