Amid the hustle of Cox’s Bazar, the Public Works Garden (Gonopurto Udyan) in the Kalatali zone has quietly emerged as a popular escape for locals and tourists alike. With its open green space, children’s rides, walkways, and peaceful ambiance, the park offers a rare blend of nature and recreation in Bangladesh’s busiest tourist town.

Once a little-known spot, the park now bustles with families, especially during weekends and holidays. Security personnel at the gate stated that the park remains open daily from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, drawing both residents and visitors for a moment of leisure.

Ashfaq Hossain, a visitor from Mirpur, Dhaka, praised the park’s child-friendly features, calling it “a beautiful addition” to the tourism landscape of Cox’s Bazar. Resident Sabrina Haque echoed similar sentiments: “This green park is a breath of fresh air. I often come here to unwind.”

As the sun sets, the park fills with children’s laughter and the chatter of families. Locals consider it an ideal place to recharge after a busy day, while visitors view it as a refreshing break from the typical tourist routes.

Stakeholders believe that with more facilities and better maintenance, this green haven could become a key attraction for tourists, offering a fun and quiet, eco-friendly experience in the heart of Cox’s Bazar.
