The Burmese Market adjacent to Kolatoli sea beach in Cox’s Bazar witnessed heavy tourist crowds as soon as evening set in. After spending the day by the sea, both domestic and international tourists flocked to the markets to shop.

A similar scene was observed in the city’s dried fish markets, where the presence of tourists created a lively atmosphere across the area. Many people purchased various types of dried fish, often as gifts for their loved ones.

Tourists showed particular interest in Burmese peanuts, a variety of pickles with different flavours, as well as attractive Burmese clothing, shoes and sandals. The constant calls of shopkeepers combined with the movement of buyers made the market area vibrant and busy.

Shops selling decorative items made of shells and snails also drew significant crowds. Tourists frequently purchased these items as souvenirs, injecting even more vitality into the marketplace.

Local businessman Hamidul said that sales have increased several times due to the influx of tourists. He added that the market experiences continuous activity every evening, especially during weekends and peak tourist seasons.

With the sound of waves from the nearby sea and the bustle of shoppers, the Kolatoli Burmese Market has now become one of the key attractions for tourists in Cox’s Bazar.
