Sonar Para Beach in Ukhiya Upazila is increasingly drawing tourists for its natural beauty and the everyday life of the fishing community that defines the shore.
Away from the usual crowds, the beach offers a calm setting, with rows of traditional sampan boats lining the coast, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Tourists can observe fishermen preparing nets, docking boats, and getting ready for their daily sea trips.
Standing on the sandy shore, one can see fishermen drying nets and organising their gear, reflecting a livelihood deeply connected to the sea. At dawn, they head out into the waters, returning by the end of the day with their catch.
Local fisherman Abdul Karim said, “Our livelihood depends on the sea. We go out every day and support our families with whatever we can catch.”
A visitor named Absar said the beach offers a different experience compared to more crowded spots. “There is little noise here. Watching the lives of fishermen is the most fascinating part. It gives a unique feeling,” he said.
The combination of natural scenery and the simplicity of coastal life makes Sonar Para beach stand out. For those seeking a peaceful seaside experience, Cox’s Bazar is emerging as an ideal destination.
