With a 10-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday underway, Cox’s Bazar — the country’s leading tourist destination — is witnessing a growing influx of travelers.

More than 500,000 to 600,000 tourists are expected to visit the coastal city during this festive break.

According to tourism operators, approximately 85% of rooms in luxury hotels and around 70% in other hotels, motels, and resorts have already been booked.

Despite the monsoon season and choppy seas, the natural beauty and festive mood have drawn vacationers from across the country.

This year, the extended leave for working professionals has given them a rare chance to enjoy leisure time with family and friends — prompting a surge in holidaymakers.

To ensure the safety of tourists, a three-tier security system has been put in place involving Sea Safe lifeguards, the Tourist Police, and local administration.

As per the district administration, Cox’s Bazar currently has around 550+ hotels, motels, cottages, and guest flats for overnight stays. Many of these accommodations have been freshly decorated ahead of Eid.

However, some hoteliers report that expected levels of tourist turnout have not yet been fully realized, especially in smaller establishments.

Despite that, the overall outlook for Eid tourism in Cox’s Bazar remains highly optimistic, with thousands already enjoying the sea breeze, scenic views, and festive atmosphere.
