Tourism in Cox’s Bazar has surged during the extended Eid holidays, with the town witnessing a large influx of tourists from Eid day through the third day.
From early morning, every point along the Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach has been bustling with tourists.
The increased footfall has brought renewed activity to hotels, resorts, restaurants, and the transport sector.
The tourism boom has created additional income opportunities for small entrepreneurs and wage earners, while increased transactions in local markets have brought relief to businesses across the coastal area.
The hotel, transport, restaurant, clothing, and local goods sectors have all seen significant growth, making the local economy more vibrant. Business operators expect that total business during the Eid holidays could reach around Tk 1 billion.
A visit to the beach shows tourists from different parts of the country enjoying their time at Kolatoli, Sugandha, and Laboni points. A rainbow lingering in the sky, the picturesque sunset after the clouds cleared, and the cool sea breeze have all added to the festive experience.
Visitors were seen bathing in the sea, riding jet skis, and enjoying bike and horse rides along the shore. The combination of sandy dunes, blue waters, and refreshing air has made the experience even more memorable.
Helal Khan, a tourist from Chattogram, said it was his first visit to Cox’s Bazar with his family, making the Eid celebration even more special. He said he planned to stay for three more days to explore the area further.
President of the Cox’s Bazar Hotel-Motel-Guest House Owners’ Association, Abul Kashem Sikder, said that tourists began arriving from the day after Eid, with around 100,000 tourists on that day alone.
He added that the trend could continue for about 10 days, with the tourism sector expecting business worth around Tk 1 billion during this period.
