A total of 16 olive ridley turtles have laid 1,733 eggs on a beach in Teknaf in a single day before returning to the sea.
From Sunday morning onward, eggs were collected and preserved at five coastal hatcheries under the Community-Led Turtle Conservation (CODEC) project.
According to project sources, a total of 13,900 eggs from 116 turtles have been collected and conserved so far this season. In addition, 550 hatchlings have been successfully released into the sea.
Liaquat Ali, who is responsible for the Ukhia-Teknaf region under the Community-Led Turtle Conservation project, said that protecting marine turtles is not only about saving a single species but also about preserving the entire marine ecosystem and biodiversity.
He added that collective efforts are needed to protect the sea and the natural environment, urging more people to become involved in conservation initiatives.
