The Elite Marathon took place in Cox’s Bazar for the second time, drawing over a thousand participants, including around fifty international runners. This year’s race unfolded along the scenic seashore, offering a unique running experience. Participants emphasized that running is an essential activity for maintaining good health.

On Saturday, December 7, runners of all ages gathered at Rezu Khal on Marine Drive well before dawn. The first race, a 42-kilometer marathon, kicked off at 6:00 AM, even before the sun rose.

Runners began their journey from Marine Drive and went to the sandy beach, flanked by the roaring sea on one side and lush rows of pine trees on the other. Amidst this stunning natural backdrop, they completed 42.2, 21.1, 10, and 2 kilometers.

Participants ranged from 7-year-old children to 70-year-old seniors. The 42.2-kilometer race featured 190 runners, the 21.1-kilometer category had 385 participants, the 10-kilometer run attracted 400 runners, and the 2-kilometer race saw 33 competitors.

Shahid Sarwar, the chief coordinator of the Elite Marathon, stated that the primary goal was to allow runners to test their endurance.
