As the Durga Puja celebration reached its climax with the immersion ceremony on the beach, a remarkable sight caught everyone’s attention.

Amid the waves of jubilant devotees celebrating Bijoya, a group of young men and women stood on the sandy shore holding placards bearing messages of peace and solidarity. Among them, one read — “Bijoya Greetings, Free Palestine.”

Atoshi Dey, one of the participants, said that alongside celebrating Bijoya, they want to see peace prevail worldwide.

“Our message is simple — may the people of Palestine live freely and safely,” she added.

Cox’s Bazar Life Journalist Abdu Rashid Manik, who was standing beside her, shared his thoughts.

“In the joy of Bijoya, we have come together beyond religion and race. Today, the spirit of humanity echoes across this beach. We’ve joined this festival with prayers for the liberation of Palestine,” he added.

From the main stage, Arup Sharma, a leader of the District Puja Celebration Committee, echoed this sentiment.

“As we bid farewell to Goddess Durga today, humanity’s struggle continues. At this very moment, we pray together for peace and freedom for the people of Palestine,” he added.
