The government has limited tourism on Saint Martin’s Island for a few months to ensure an eco-friendly atmosphere. The Council of Advisers agreed on Tuesday.
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir confirmed the matter to the reporters at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy on October 22.
He said that, as part of the decision, tourists will be allowed on Saint Martin’s Island in November but cannot stay there at night.
However, tourists will be allowed to stay at night in December and January, but the number of tourists cannot exceed 2000 per day.
Moreover, tourists will not be allowed in February as the authorities will now clean the island and protect the environment.
Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Assistant Press Secretaries Nayem Ali, and Shuchismita Tithi were present during the briefing.
