Hashighar Foundation, a student-run social volunteer organization, aims to uplift the underprivileged and marginalized populations in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. Founded in 2021 under the slogan “I Will Bring a Smile to the Helpless,” its activities are funded by the students.
The foundation focuses on creating a “Golden Bangladesh” through various humanitarian efforts, including financial assistance for impoverished patients and raising awareness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They distribute warm clothing each winter and provide clothing and gifts to orphans and underprivileged children during Eid.
Moreover, they distribute iftar supplies during Ramadan, plant trees, and supply educational materials like chairs, tables, and books to bright but needy students.
Regular activities include blood donation drives for critically ill patients and assistance locating blood donors.
Mohammad Yasin Sikder, the founder and general secretary, emphasizes encouraging students to participate in volunteer work. He finds joy in helping others and has received blessings from those he assists.
A notable initiative was during FIFA World Cup 2022 when they organized an event featuring the world’s largest hand-painted portrait of Lionel Messi, displayed at Laboni Point. This garnered extensive media attention.
